Great Mountain x Tanacross

Tanacross is named after an Athabascan Indian community located on the banks of the Tanana River, AK.  His name honors his maternal grandmother, North Down x Chena, a wonderful sled dog, who passed away just days before his litter was born. Tana is a third generation cross approved by the UKC-COA CrossBreeding program. His progeny from three different litters were purebred eligible at the age of two--passing required health exams and conformation evaluations by licensed UKC judges.   Several of his offspring have graduated and are now purebred Chinooks, earning UKC champion/grand championship, herding, and sledding titles. Tanacross was awarded Best Cross Male during the 2005 and 2006 COA National Specialties.

He is an exceptionally handsome, sweet, sensitive boy who loves to give gentle, polite kisses to folks who spend time adoring him. Tana has natural athleticism and uses it to frequently chase squirrels or birds that are on our property.  This boy really enjoys being outdoors expending his endless energy.  When sledding he has worked in wheel position (the position nearest the sled).   Both his father and mother were natural sled dogs with a lot of drive and confidence.
